Ghana’s Ministry of Sports and Recreation has explicitly rejected the claim that the Black Queens are owed outstanding bonuses.
In a release signed by the Head of Public Relations and Communications Bagbara Tanko, the Ministry flat out rejected the claim made by members of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team. (Click highlighted text to read the Black Queens’ claim)
“The Ministry respects the right of our national team players to raise concerns regarding their welfare and entitlements.”
“However, it is equally important that the public is provided with the facts regarding Government’s financial commitments to the team. For the avoidance of doubt, Government does not owe the Black Queens any outstanding per diem.”
“The Black Queens are currently supported by a comprehensive team structure comprising a Team Manager, Team Administrator, two Physiotherapists, a Medical Doctor, a Nurse, a Dietician, a Chef, two Management Team members and additional technical officials, all providing the necessary medical, nutritional, administrative and general welfare support throughout the tournament” sections of the statement read.
This development comes ahead of the Black Queens’ 2027 FIFA World Cup playoffs against Cote D’Ivoire on Thursday, August 13 at 17:00 GMT. Scroll down to read full statement from Sports Ministry.
