Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has commended his team for winning the Democracy Cup for the second year in a row.
Kotoko beat arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak 4-1 in a penalty shootout after playing a goalless draw after regulation time. Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim saved two efforts to get Kotoko the win. (Scroll down to watch video)
Speaking after winning his first trophy in his first game with the club after getting appointed to the head coaching role recently, Tinkler shared the early difference between his side and the Kotoko side that finished eighth last season and run through three individuals in the head coaching role.
“I think the fans can see we are building a strong team…the cohesion is not exactly there but that will come.”

“It’s evident that we are much stronger, a lot more motivated, a lot more disciplined than what it was last season” Tinkler said.
Kotoko take on debutants Debibi United in their 2026-2027 season opening game on Sunday, September 6.
