France head coach Zinedine Zidane says he is looking forward to leading the team out in front of French fans for the first time since taking charge.
Zidane replaced Didier Deschamps after the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has made a perfect start, guiding France to two wins from two games.
Both victories, 1-0 wins over Türkiye and Belgium, came away from home. Zidane will now experience his first home game as France coach when his side faces Italy at the Stade de France on Friday, October 2, in the UEFA Nations League.
“Am I looking forward to the match? Yes. I’m not going to tell you we can’t wait because the players now need to rest.”
“We haven’t had much rest, there’s been a lot of travelling and few training sessions, but we’ll have a little more time for that now but yes, we’ll be happy to get to Friday, to the Stade de France, with our fans and above all, with those six points” Zidane said.
