A former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President, Fred Pappoe, has been named as chairman of the committee tasked to name a suitable candidate for the vacant Black Stars head coach role.
This development comes on the back of a five man committee getting set up by the GFA in partnership with the Sports and Recreation Ministry following a crunch meeting between the two parties to discuss Carlos Queiroz’s replacement among ither issues affecting national team football development.
Queiroz parted ways with Ghana as head coach of the Black Stars on Thursday, October 1 that prompted the meeting between the GFA and Sports Ministry on Friday, October 2. Queiroz’s departure stemmed from a winless start to Ghana’s 2027 AFCON qualifiers with the Black Stars losing 2-0 to Cote D’Ivoire and 4-2 to The Gambia.

Aside Fred Pappoe, the five man committee has former Black Stars players’ Stephen Appiah and Anthony Baffoe, Faisal Chibsah (FIFA accredited High Perforamnce Specialist) and Agbesi Dzapkasu (Esq.) on it.

At the time of the appointment, Anthony Baffoe serves as General Secretary of the Professional Footballers’ Association of Ghana while Stephen Appiah serves as Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee.
