Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick says he understands whatever decision the club makes regarding his future following the team’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson condemned United to a heavy home loss, increasing the pressure on Carrick amid growing frustration among supporters.
Speaking after the match, Carrick insisted he was not anticipating any particular outcome, but reaffirmed his affection for the club and his commitment to putting its interests first.
“I totally understand the situation. I’m not expecting anything in particular, to be honest. I’m carrying on as normal.
“I love this place, I always do what I feel is going to be the best for the football club, whatever decision is made on anything really. So, that’s kind of it. I’m not expecting anything either way,” he said.
Carrick’s comments come as United face renewed scrutiny following their performance against Bournemouth, with the result raising further questions about the team’s direction under his leadership going 8 goals unbeaten
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his position, the former United midfielder says he will continue with his duties as the club considers its next steps.
