Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has praised young winger Shea Lacey for his performance in the club’s dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, November 3.
Carrick highlighted Lacey’s versatility and willingness to take on different responsibilities as United recovered from a two-goal deficit.

The United boss explained that half-time tactical changes saw Matheus Cunha move into a central role, while Bryan Mbeumo switched to the left wing to improve the team’s balance. Lacey also showed his defensive commitment in the closing stages, dropping back to cover at right-back.
Carrick was pleased with the youngster’s contribution, describing him as a talented player eager to make his mark in the first team.

“I’m delighted for Shea, we love him to bits. He’s so talented and desperate to do well,” Carrick said.
He also praised Lacey’s willingness to put the team first and adapt to unfamiliar roles.
“It just shows what he’s prepared to do, and to see young players take opportunities like that, there aren’t many better things, I must say,” he added.
The victory ended United’s nine-game winless run across all competitions and provided a timely boost for Carrick’s side.
