Anas video: Government pays June salaries of GFA staff

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has confirmed that it has paid the salaries of staff of the Ghana Football Association.

However, salaries of all GFA staff implicated in the Anas video and currently under investigation, have not been paid.

The government froze the accounts of the country’s football governing body after an investigation by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas revealed alleged acts of corruption which led to the resignation of the FA’s president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, as he faces investigation on his involvement.

The government then moved to liquidate the association, saying it is no longer fit for purpose.

The government subsequently announced in July that it will continue to pay the salaries of the GFA until their accounts were released back to them.

Last week, the government, as part of an agreement with FIFA to set up a Normalization Committee to supervise the country’s path to restoring halted football activities, discontinued the court process to liquidate the GFA.

“I can confirm that the salaries of the GFA staff for the month of June have been paid,” Elvis Adjei-Baah, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Youth and Sports revealed.

“Those of July are being worked on,” he said.
