Asante Kotoko head coach, Maxwell Konadu, has thrown down the gauntlet to rivals, Hearts of Oak, ahead of their Week 6 Ghana Premier League clash in Accra on Sunday.
The two meet in the first “Super 2” clash of the league season and already, the two teams have began the war of words that surrounds the tie.
Earlier this week, Hearts of Oak head coach, Edward Odoom, and midfielder, Emmanuel Nettey, said that they were prepared for the tie and they were pleased with their good form heading into the encounter.
But Konadu’s warning to Hearts came a week to the match after he supervised Kotoko’s 2-0 victory over Dwarfs in Week at the Baba Yara Stadium.
“Kotoko is always ready for Hearts of Oak encounter and I believe that they are also ready for us. We all know these matches are of a high-profile nature and no team is going to relax or take it easy.
I know they are preparing very well and they have their eye on the match. We are also keeping an eye on what they are doing. It is going to be interesting match in Accra.
Here we go. The match is on and we will see what happens on Sunday.”
Kotoko’s last trip to Accra to face Hearts was in June 2019 when they beat the Phobians on penalties in the semi-finals of the NC Special Competition.
Kotoko are 7th on the league table with 9 points while Hearts are 9th on 7 points.
