The Black Bombers, Ghana’s national amateur boxing team, have resumed non-residential training on Monday 9th Novembe, 2020 at the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium as preparations intensify ahead the Paris Olympic qualifying event.
Training will starts at 6.30am each day.
The Black Bombers are the most successful National Team in the history of Ghana’s participation at the Olympics, having won 3 of the country’s 4 medals since Ghana made its debut at the global sporting event in the 1960.
The Black Bombers have so far qualified 2 boxers for the next Olympics that have been rescheduled to July and August, 2021 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The qualified boxers are Captain Sulemanu Tetteh (Flyweight) and 19 year old Samuel Takyi (Featherweight).
There will be a final global qualification event to be held in Paris, France, in May 2021 before the Olympics Games, to offer a window of opportunity to more boxers to try and qualify for the Games
