Black Galaxies head coach Annor Walker has expressed his disappointment over his team’s performance in the opening half of a 1-2 loss to Madagascar.

The loss came in a Group C game at the preliminary stage of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Constantine, Algeria.

Ghana got a consolation goal from full back Augustine Agyapong after trailing 0-2 at half time with goals coming from Solomampionona Razafindranaivo and Olivier Randriatsiferana.

Speaking in the postgame interview with CAF media, Walker pointed out his team’s role in the loss but was optimistic the Black Galaxies team has the capacity to turn things around.

“I think my boys disappointed me in the first half and I take it as one of those things that happen in football. We were well prepared for this game, but minor mistakes cost us the game. It happens in competitions that big teams lose their opening games. We may have lost but we are certainly not out of the competition yet” he said.

Ghana plays Sudan next on Thursday, January 19 in what could prove to be a must win for Ghana in order to avoid a quick elimination from the competition.

This is down to the uncertainty over Morocco’s participation in the tournament created for players who compete in national leagues on the African continent.

Morocco’s game against Sudan was cancelled over Morocco’s failure to show up for the tie. Prior to the no show, Morocco had threatened to boycott the competition over its long standing feud with Algeria in relation to matters concerning Western Sahara.
