Legon Cities head coach Maxwell Konadu has singled out goalkeeper Sylvester Sackey for high praise in the wake of Sackey’s exploits in the team’s latest win in this season’s MTN FA Cup.
Sackey starred in Legon Cities 4-3 penalty win over Accra Great Olympics to secure Legon’s progression to the Round of 16 stage for the second season in a row.
The tie ended goalless after Great Olympics wasted a series of chances to the chagrin of coach Yaw Preko. Legon Cities won the eventual penalty shootout.
For his role in the win, Konadu had nothing but praise for Sackey in the post game interview where he said, “The goalkeeper did well. He kept his cool. We asked him to do one thing; not to move before the kick and he did that.”
Legon Cities joined fellow betPawa Ghana Premier League teams Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kumasi King Faisal and Dreams FC in the Round of 16 stage.
This is the second season in a row Legon Cities have progressed to the Round of 16 stage.
