Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is the NBA’s All Time Scoring leader after scoring 38 points to surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record 38, 387 points. James’ record stands at 38,390 points.
James shattered Abdul-Jabbar’s record in Lakers 130-133 loss to Oklahoma City Thunder at the Crypto Arena; the game was interrupted to honour James for reaching the historic mark.
Abdul-Jabbar was in attendance and handed a basketball to James to mark the special moment; the former Milwaukee Bucks star Abdul-Jabbar broke the scoring record held by Wilt Chamberlain in 1984.
In response to James’ historic feat, sneaker giant, Nike, gifted LeBron a special sneaker that had a “gold and marble” theme.
LeBron’s fade away jump shot put the former Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers star ahead of Abdul-Jabbar on the all time points leader board.
The 38 year old is a four time NBA champion who was drafted number one overall in the 2003 NBA Draft straight from high school and signed a lifetime deal with Nike in 2015.
