Tunisian star Ons Jabeur has progressed to the Round of 16 stage of the Eastbourne International after recording a straight sets win over Jasmine Paolini.

The quarterfinal matchup had the 2022 French Open finalist beat Paolini 6-3, 6-2 in the Round of 32 in the competition that widely regarded as a warm up tournament for Wimbledon.

27 year old Paolini who is of Ghanaian descent through her mother-Jacqueline Gardener-, made a good start but last year’s Wimbledon finalist recovered well to record the straight forward win.

Paolini’s best single’s performance at a Grand Slam came earlier this year when she reached the second round of the French Open and Australian Open respectively.

She made her professional debut in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour in 2015 via wildcard to compete in the Italian Open doubles.

In the double’s, Paolini’s best performance was a third round appearance at the Australian Open in 2021; she crashed out at the second round of the French Open earlier this year.

On the other hand, Jabeur is looking forward to make a deep run at Wimbledon as she continues to search for her first grand slam title.
