Former Black Queens head coach, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, says she is very happy with the performance of the national female team under coach Nora Hauptle.
The former lead tactician of Ghana’s national female team said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports in the wake of Ghana’s 7-0 aggregate win over Guinea in the first round of qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Under Hauptle, the Black Queens are yet to concede a goal in five outings and the team is scheduled to play Benin in the next round of qualifiers.
“I am so happy trust me. In all situations, Ghana is paramount. We all need to support Naura to succeed. Ghanaians are yearning to see Ghana female national team in the World Cup, in the Olympics; it doesn’t matter if it is Mercy Tagoe, it’s about women’s football. Let’s all support put everything aside and support Nora to succeed.”
Ghana’s Black Queens have missed out on competing in back to back international tournaments- 2023 FIFA World Cup, 2022 Women’s AFCON- but is aiming to qualify to compete in next year’s Olympic Games.
