University of Cape Coast (UCC) Men’s Basketball Team has won the 2023 Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games 3×3 competition held in South Africa.

The Wildcats scored a 21-12 win in the final game over United States International University- Kenya to qualify to the World University Games slated to take place in November.

The team returned to Ghana recently and in an interview with Citi Sports, leader of UCC’s delegation, Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi, says the team is still in a celebratory mood.

“We are still in our celebratory mood, preparations are yet to commence. I believe that when we meet the (University’s) Vice Chancellor we will kick start preparations for the FISU… and I believe that this time our Coach Selorm Thomas will be available.

He was occupied with certain personal issues so he couldn’t join us so I believe that with the FISU, we will put our heads together and draw up something good for the boys.”

Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi

The win comes on the back of UCC’s triumph at the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.
