Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton says he expects Central African Republic (CAR) to have an offensive bite against Ghana while calling for an improved performance from his side.
The Wild Beasts of CAR take on Ghana on Thursday, September 7 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in the final 2023 AFCON qualifier after the Black Stars played out a soulless 0-0 draw against Madagascar.
Ghana needs a win or a draw to qualify to compete at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire while CAR needs to win at all cost to secure a spot in the competition.
Addressing the media in a pregame conference, Hughton expressed his pessimism CAR would be overly defensive as the Wild Beasts hunt for a debut AFCON appearance.
“I am very conscious particularly of the last performance where we did not perform at our best and I am also very conscious we have found it difficult that we need to make the games more comfortable for us.

We are up against a good side that knows that they are going to have to get something here so I don’t see an opposition team that is just going to sit back and allow us to attack wave after wave. I am conscious we need to score goals and we will drive on to the players and do everything we can for that to happen.”
