Qualification to the money zone of CAF Confed Cup is the objective – Winfred Dormon

Dreams FC Assistant Coach, Winfred Dormon, has stressed the importance of the team qualifying for the money zone of the CAF Confederation Cup this season.

He made this remark ahead of the team’s first-leg tie against FC Kallon in the second preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

A favourable result from the two legs will qualify Dreams to Africa for the first time in the club’s history.

Dormon believes the team is ready to change the narrative around Ghanaian clubs failing to qualify for CAF Interclub competitions.

In his post-match address ahead of tomorrow’s crucial first-leg tie, Dormon remained buoyant in the team’s chances against FC Kallon.

Preparations has gone well, we have been very positive, yes we had some minor hitches earlier on with some players, but the medical team has worked so hard.

We had our last training sessions today, Thursday [14/09/2023] at the Accra Sports Stadium and the team is looking very ready and we are very positive.

Is a very big call for this club, a very important match so far as the history of this club is concerned, and so far as Ghana football and club football is concerned.

Our big objective is to make sure we make the money zone.

We were happy to breeze pass Milo FC in the preliminary round.

Now, we are looking forward to this team [FC Kallon], it is a young team just like Dreams FC, the few information we have gathered is that, they are a very possessive team as well.

The reigning MTN FA Cup Champions are entering the match with confidence, having previously defeated Guinean side Milo FC de Kankan in the last round.

The first leg ended 1-1 in Guinea, with the second leg at the Accra Sports Stadium witnessing a comeback win for the Ghanaian FA Cup champions.

FC Kallon, on the other hand, advanced to this stage with a walkover after their scheduled match against Niger’s AS Douanes was cancelled.

Dreams FC has been more active in recent competitions compared to their Sierra Leonean counterparts, and they are poised to secure a favourable result in the first leg, which will take place in Accra.
