University of Cape Coast (UCC) head of delegation to the 2023 FISU University Games 3×3 Basketball Tournament, Dr. Eric Opoku- Antwi, says his team will give off its best in the tournament.
UCC’s Men’s Basketball, nicknamed The Wildcats, are in Doha, Qatar for the seventh edition of the competition for the best University teams in the abridged version of basketball in both the men and women categories.
UCC qualified to represent Africa in the tournament after emerging winners of the FASU 3X3 Basketball held in South Africa in June. The competition doubled as a qualifying tournament to the World FISU Games.
In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Dr. Opoku-Antwi said, “We expect to go into the competition to give our 100% and see what comes out of it. So far no challenges whatsoever. Our host country and FISU have been wonderful.”
“As it stands, to be able to make it out of your continent to this stage means you are a big deal. Therefore every team represented here cannot be underrated.”
UCC commences its campaign on Saturday, November 11 and is set to play against the likes of Monash University from Australia and Vytautas Magnus of Lithuania.
