Head coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies Football Club, Joe Nana Adarkwa, has rubbished the idea that his side underestimated Malian side AS Mande.

He said this in the wake of Ampem Darkoa’s 0-3 loss to fellow West African side Mande on Game Day 2 of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League main stage. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Oumou Kone scored a hat-trick to power Mande to the big win after drawing goalless with Equatorial Guinea in the opening round of games in Group B. Kone was subsequently named as Woman of the Match.

Tied on three points with defending champion AS FAR of Morocco and a point behind Mande in the Group, Ampem Darkoa needs to avoid a loss against Huracanes on Sunday, November 12 at 20:00 GMT.

Speaking after the loss to CAF, Nana Adarkwa said, “We lost but I will continue to talk to them to get back on track and give our best in the last match to qualify”

“We did not underestimate our opponent. Our opponent came determined and deserves the victory. That’s football. The only important thing  for me is to talk to them and change things.”
