Ampem Darkoa Ladies Football Club head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa says his team is on the right track after picking up its first ever win in the CAF Women’s Champions League main competition.
Nana Adarkwa’s side beat Morocco’s ASFAR 1-0 stunning the defending champions in the process and taking the lead in Group B.
AS Mande of Mali and Huracanes from Equatorial Guinea played out a 1-1 draw; Ampem Darkoa leads the group with three points and a win in its next game against Mande on November 11 puts the Ghanaian representative in pole position to progress to the next round of the competition.
Speaking to CAF after the stunning win, coach Adarkwa was adamant his side was heading in the right direction.
“We are here to win and bring the trophy home. We are on the right track. It was determination that made the difference. During the break, we had a serious talk with the players, and they reacted well in the second half.”
Ampem Darkoa’s Comfort Yeboah was named Woman of the Match after getting the equalizer and having her cross deflected leading to an ASFAR own goal.
