Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has labeled West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus as a “10” as serious debate continues over the best position and subsequent role for him.
He made this description in an interview with UK media outlet Talk Sport after inviting Kudus to the Black Stars 2023 AFCON provisional squad.
The 55 man list has 11 players from the Ghana Premier League included with five from Medeama Sporting Club. Striker Jonathan Sowah leads the Medeama delegation. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Kudus has made a fine start to life at West Ham after joining The Hammers in the past off season scoring nine goals and making 14 goal contributions in 24 games in all competitions.
During his time with Ajax, West Ham and the Black Stars, Kudus has lined up as a winger, striker, support striker or in central midfield.
However, Chris Hughton sees Kudus as a creative player behind a forward saying, “He’s a very talented player there’s no doubt. The type of player he is, you look at him as a 10 because he’s a goal scorer, you want to get him close to goal but he has had good success playing on that right hand side (as a winger).”
Kudus bagged his first Premier League brace in West Ham’s 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
