Abeiku Jackson’s coach, Pavel Kutashev, has attributed Jackson’s inability to qualify for the finals of the Men’s 50 freestyle event to fatigue on the part of the 23-year-old.
Jackson fell short in the Men’s 50M FREESTYLE Heats, placing 10th with a time of 23.59, dashing hopes for another swimming medal.
On the other hand, Harry Stacy secured a finals spot in the Men’s 50M FREESTYLE Heats with a swift 23.17 and will be competing at 5:03 pm today at the Aquatic Complex in Borteyman.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Pavel Kutashev expressed satisfaction at Jackson’s performance despite the setback, adding that the outcome is positive for the 23-year-old swimmer.
just a consequence of having like 10 plus events in five days. The fatigue is there for sure, right? But I think it’s still a good time for him, the good result. And yes, we didn’t make a final, but we still have Harry there, representing Ghana and fighting for the medal.I’m believing in him, he can do the best. And it is what it is right now already.I don’t think that it’s like really affected him, this like amount, like three swim and everything.I don’t, he’s a professional and you have to deal with those kind of situation if you are professional, right? If you are trying to, if you are a two -time Olympian, this is nothing to complain about, you just do what you have to do.
The Ghanaian earlier won Ghana’s 5th medal at the African Games, claiming bronze in the Men’s 100m Butterfly on Tuesday, March 13.
It’s also Abeiku’s second medal at the Games after he won silver in the Men’s 50m Butterfly.
The race, which was initially scheduled to happen on Monday, March 11, 2024, was postponed due to a false start
Jackson finished with a time of 53.80s behind South Africa’s Jarden Eaton and Egypt’s Abdalla Nasr, who claimed the gold medal.
