Ex Black Stars midfielder, Laryea Kingston, has been confirmed as the head coach of Ghana’s National Under 17 Men’s Football Team, the Black Starlets.

The news, communicated by the Ghana Football Association pushes the former Accra Great Olympics player from the assistant role into the main coaching role.

Kingston served as the Black Starlets assistant coach with Abdul Karim Zito as the head coach since December 2022.

Former Accra Hearts of Oak captain Jacob Nettey and Nana Agyemang will serve as Kingston’s assistant coaches following the announcement.

During his time with Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, Kingston played at the 2006 and 2009 AFCON and starred for Scottish side Hearts of Midlothian in his playing career that had him play for clubs in Russia and Israel.

Jacob Nettey was center piece of the famous Hearts of Oak team that won the 2000 CAF Champions League title and six Ghana Premier League titles in a row.
