The Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi will be rendered inaccessible as the edifice is set to host the Black Stars 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Central African Republic (CAR) on June 10.

Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team will play CAR after engaging Mali on June 2 in the latest window of qualification games for the upcoming World Cup.

The arrangement will affect operations at the stadium with the edifice, particularly the pitch, scheduled to go through an upgrade for the World Cup qualifier next month.

Ghana Premier League side Kumasi Asante Kotoko is an affected party due to the arrangement with its upcoming league game against Accra Great Olympics set to be moved to the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

The league game will be played on Sunday, June 2 at 14:00 GMT with Kotoko coming off an impressive win over rival Accra Hearts of Oak.

The Porcupine Warriors have released a statement communicating this change of location “for ample time to prepare the Baba Yara Stadium to meet the requirements of CAF.”
