I invested in my coaching career to change Ghana Football- Laryea Kingston

Ex Accra Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics midfielder, Laryea Kingston, has spelt out the motivation behind investing immensely into his coaching career.

He made this revelation in his shock decision to resign as head coach of Ghana’s National Under 17 Men’s Football Team-the Black Starlets in the wake of the team’s semifinal loss to Burkina Faso.

Ghana lost 2-1 to Burkina Faso at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon during the WAFU Under 17 Championship. The loss eliminates Ghana from qualifying to the Under 17 AFCON competition.

In his speech, the former Black Stars player said that he had decided to leave his Black Starlets role before the tournament started regardless of the outcome and added that, (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“I gave my all as a player for this country but at the end, I wasn’t happy as a player. I have focused more on my coaching career, educated myself well to make sure I come back and change the narrative. The investment I put in myself is all because I want to change something in Ghana football.”

The winner of the matchup between Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire joins Burkina Faso as WAFU Zone B representatives at the Under 17 AFCON.
