The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has congratulated Ghana’s 4×100 Metre Men’s Relay Team for qualifying to the 2024 Olympic Games.

The GOC issued an official statement on the team’s qualification to the Paris Olympics after Ghana won Heat 2 at the World Athletics Relays in Bahamas to seal its place in France.

Ghana won the heat with a time of 38.29 seconds ahead of Nigeria and Dominican Republic who finished second and third respectively.

A Ghana Athletics Vice President, Charles Osei Assibey, congratulated the team and said that the win was revenge for Ghana missing out on winning gold at the 2023 African Games to Nigeria. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Despite missing out on qualification at the Penn Relays in Pennsylvania and dropping the baton on Day One of the Relays in Bahamas, Ghana overcame the struggles to win impressively on Day Two.

A section of the GOC’s statement read, “Your path to this milestone reflects your exceptional abilities, passion for success, and the true spirit of sportsmanship. GOC is working hard with its stakeholders to ensure that Team Ghana is well represented at the Olympic Games.”
