Black Stars winger Osman Bukari has pointed to his standout performance in the Belgrade Derby as the big moment that led to him joining Austin FC.

He said this in an interview with Austin media after joining the club on a three and a half year deal from Red Star Belgrade.

Bukari starred with the Serbian club for two seasons and recorded back to back to league and cup doubles and pointed to a win over big rival, Partizan Belgrade, as the turning point that led to Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell recruiting him.

“I think in Belgrade there is the derby game against Partizan and I think that game is tough. I think there was a game we won 3-2 (over Partizan) I gave an assist and I won a penalty for them, I think that game he watched it and saw that I have something to give on the pitch that’s why he tried to bring me here.”
