CF Montreal striker Prince Osei Owusu has distanced himself from comments made by a purported member of his family concerning bribery allegations over a call up to the Black Stars.
In a viral video on social media that circulated following Ghana’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after losing 1-0 to Colombia, a lady who claimed to be a family relative of Osei Owusbu, shared that Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials wanted to take money before giving the German-born Montreal striker a berth in the Black Stars.
Many bemoaned the offensive output of the Black Stars that had Ghana score two goals in four games with forwards Antoine Semenyo and Jordan Ayew failing to register a shot on target in the World Cup.
29 year old Osei Owusu, who has nine goals and six assists in 14 games in the Major League Soccer (MLS) debunked those allegations by stating in a social media post,
“The claims that individuals pretending to be members of my family stated I would have to give away 70% of any earnings or bonuses if selected for the FIFA World Cup are completely false.”

“These are fake news, and I strongly deny these allegations. I completely reject and distance myself from all false statements, rumors, and misleading claims made in my name or on behalf of my family.”
