CHANNELONE NAT’L SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP: Hosting event at Borteyman Complex is ideal- Delphina Quaye

President of the Ghana Swimming Association Delphina Quaye says hosting the second edition of the ChannelONE Swimming National Championship at the Borteyman Sports Complex is ideal for young swimmers and enhances their preparation for international competitions.

The versatile facility previously hosted most of the sports events during the 13th African Games and also hosted the Meet of Champions, organized by the Ghana Swimming Association a few weeks ago.

In an interview with Citi Sports ahead of the ChannelONE Swimming Championship, which begins this weekend, Delphina Quaye expressed her excitement about this year’s event being held at the Aquatic Center in Borteyman.

Borteyman is a certified world -class pool facility.

The pool itself, we have the 25 -metre warm -up pool, we have the 50 -metre competition pool.

When you have these two pools together, before swimmers go into the water for their main event, they’re not warmed up.

After they finish swimming, they need to warm down.

It helps them in their competition. Borteyman is the only facility we have that has both the warm -up pool and the competition pool.

And the competition pool is not just a competition pool, but it’s a world -class, certified competition pool.

So for us, having it there, we think it helps the kids to also experience what they will get when they go out there to compete with their peers in other countries.

It makes them more comfortable. It takes away, like you said, the fear.

They become comfortable. They know the water. They know the pool. So it becomes easier for them to compete with confidence in that kind of environment.

The Marlins Swim Team triumphed as the overall winners of the maiden edition [CITI TV] National Swimming Championship, securing a total of 63 medals across both male and female categories.

Held at the Burma Camp Sports Complex, the event saw the Marlins clinch 34 gold, 19 silver, and 10 bronze medals in an exhilarating 10-hour competition.

In second place, the Legon Sharks collected 41 medals, while the Torpedo Swimming Club earned a total of 16 medals.
