Epiphany Warriors have achieved a historic treble by defeating Halifax Ladies 3-1 in a penalty shootout in the Greater Accra Football Association’s (GARFA) Women’s Division One Champion of Champions at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Halifax Ladies took the lead in the 44th minute with a perfectly placed shot by Rita Doku. However, Epiphany Warriors equalized just eight minutes after the break with an exquisite finish from Salma Sai Jibril.

Despite both teams creating several good chances, neither could score again, and the match went straight to penalties after the final whistle.

Epiphany Warriors missed their first penalty when substitute striker Leticia Adjei failed to convert. Halifax Ladies initially gained an advantage but then missed their next three spot kicks.

Captain Gifty Acheampong secured the victory for Epiphany Warriors by converting the fifth penalty, officially crowning them as the GARFA Division 1 Champion of Champions for the second consecutive season.

This win marked a historic treble for the Warriors, having already won their Division 1 group and the GFA Southern Zone Middle League.

They will compete in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League in the 2024/25 season, aiming to compete with the top teams in the division.

After reaching the semi-finals of the 2023/24 Women’s FA Cup, the Warriors aspire to continue their trophy streak in the top tier, having secured five trophies over the past two seasons.
