Black Queens coach Nora Häuptle has stated that the team will utilize every FIFA International Window to adequately prepare for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.

The team regrouped after they failed to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, despite a commendable performance against Zambia where they were eliminated on the away goal rule after a 3-3 aggregate draw.

The Queens are scheduled to play an international friendly against Japan on Saturday, July 13 at the Tokyo Kanazawa Go Go Curry Stadium.

Speaking before their departure, Häuptle expressed confidence in using every available FIFA International Window to fine-tune the team’s readiness for the Women’s AFCON.

“The WAFCON has been postponed to July in Morocco next year, so we had to re-shedule our planning.”

“Now we have Japan, Japan is top 7 in the world ranking and maybe besides Spain, they are the best possession based team.

“Because I said we want to have measurement with the top of the world to see the level we are at.”

“We want to have plenty of friendly games in October, December, we want to use all the FIFA international window to make a good preparation.

“It is also a good time to prep our players, some from the U-20 and secondly we have like 5 or 6 players from the FIFA eligibility programm, so it is still also time to open the squad and see who are best players are for the tournamnet.

“We want to choose the right players, because now everybody wants to join the “Mission Volta” and this is something good for me as a coach.”
