Ghana Super Middleweight boxer Sena Agbeko has called for help for Ghanaian boxers in their preparations for competitions.
He said this in an exclusive interview with ChannelOne Sports where he expressed his disappointment over Ghana’s inability to have boxers qualify to compete in the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games.
Agbeko, who is nicknamed “African Warrior”, addressed the issue by calling for boxers to get the right level of support to prepare well ahead of time for trial competitions in their quest to compete at competitions like the Olympics.
“I think they (authorities) need to listen to the coaches because the coaches are the ones on the ground, they are the ones working, they know what they need. Now we are at a point where the sponsorship has fallen off and I think the government needs to step in and actually put in some measures to ensure that the boxers are actually really prepared for these events long before it’s time to start them.”
Agbeko has 28 wins including 22 knockouts and three losses in his professional career.
