Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is adamant about returning to the summit of the sport.
He said this in an interview with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn as he prepares to take on Austrian heavyweight boxer Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, July 25.
This weekend’s bout marks Joshua’s return to the ring after suffering a personal tragedy when two members of his entourage passed away through a car accident in Nigeria in December 2025.
Joshua escaped the tragedy with minor injuries with the incident coming on the back of Joshua’s win over YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul in a lucrative fight.
Fighting Prenga is widely viewed as a tune up bout for Joshua who is scheduled to take on former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury later this year.
“I want to perform, I want to fight Fury. I’m just confident in myself that I can beat Fury whether he is at his best or at his worst.”
“I just know with the work that I’m doing, I will beat Fury…I’m not worrying [about] how many warm up fights he has, how good he is looking.”
“I believe I can become undisputed [champion], I’ve still got the ambition and hunger and anything below is a champion so one of the two, I’m going to get it” Joshua said.
