Ghana Athletics Chief Executive Officer Philippina Frimpong has described Ghana’s performance in the sprint events at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as “bitter sweet” for Team Ghana.

She said this in an exclusive interview with ChannelOne Sports on the sidelines of Team Ghana’s arrival from the third Paris Olympics.

Team Ghana missed out on winning a medal at the competition with its campaign culminating in a disappointing disqualification from the 4×100 Metre Men’s Relay competition due to a lane infraction. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Speaking on Ghana’s campaign in Paris, the Ghana Athletics CEO highlighted how disappointed the contingent was after getting disqualified from the Men’s 4×100 Relays.

“It was bitter sweet for all of us. They boys were happy, they were hyped, they were ready to go but sometimes, with relays, you just cannot predict. The relay is unpredictable, it doesn’t matter how many times you work at it.”

Ghana Athletics CEO Philippina Frimpong

“We did everything we could and I know that Ghanaians are disappointed but I will tell you that they cannot be disappointed than those boys; that was their platform. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen the way we planned it. They are upset, they are hurt, they feel the pain of Ghanaians because they are also Ghanaians.”
