Undefeated Ghanaian bantamweight star Daniel Gorsh is set to compete for the vacant World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa bantamweight title against Benin’s Ghislain Vodounhessi.
The much-anticipated match, co-promoted by Legacy Fight Promotions and Shiatse Promotions under the banner “The Golden Hands,” is scheduled for Saturday, 14 September, at the Treehouse Restaurant in Osu, Accra.
Gorsh, who holds a perfect record of 12 wins with nine knockouts, aims to add the WBO Africa bantamweight title to his growing list of achievements.
He already holds the Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) Africa super bantamweight title, which he won in March by a technical decision over fellow Ghanaian Moses Adjei Selvi.
Vodounhessi, an experienced fighter with a 25-2 record, including 23 knockouts, has been preparing at the Jamestown Gym in Accra under the mentorship of Coach Randy Amugi.
The Beninois boxer has a strong history against Ghanaian opponents, winning 14 out of 16 bouts.
His recent performances have been notable, securing four victories in his last five fights against Ghanaian boxers, with his only loss to a Ghanaian coming from the undefeated Wasiru Mohammed in January 2020.
Despite his experience, Vodounhessi will be mindful of the challenge posed by Gorsh, who remains unbeaten in his professional career.
During a press briefing held on Friday, August 30, at the Treehouse Restaurant in Accra, Hon. Nii Okai Laryea, Chief Executive Officer of Shiatse Promotions and former Member of Parliament for Amasaman Constituency assured attendees that the fight on September 14 would be highly competitive, with both boxers giving their best.

“It promises to be a very competitive night of boxing right here at the treehouse restaurant.
The statement I’m about to make is quite controversial, I’ll make it anyway.
You would agree with me that though other parts of the country, other regions within the country, have contributed towards the development of boxing, I can confidently say the Ga Mashie area has contributed the most if not more than 80%.
This one, it’s arguable.
But there’s so much raw talent within the Ga Mashie area.
We believe that it is important for us to develop or help develop the sports within the area.
Most of the boxing gyms that you find in Greater Accra are located within that small Gamashi area.
Ghana Boxing Authority President, Abraham Neequaye Kotei, also commended the promoters of Legacy Fight Promotions and Shiatse Promotions for organizing the fight outside the well-known Bukom Boxing Arena.

He further lauded their efforts in contributing to the success of boxing in Ghana.
“This is a good fight and for me from the GBA point of view, we are to support the two promoters coming together to stage such a fight.
It’s not been easy for us. Ghana boxing moving out of its origin, moving to different places.
This is something that I try to encourage.
It’s not going to be at the arena all the time because the arena is killing boxing. Truth to be told.
You have a promoter paying forty thousand for an event to be hosted at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
Talk of how he’s going to pay the boxers.
Talk of whatever he’s going to do to get it. To stage the fight in the boxing arena now if you don’t have a hundred thousand that is going to just be paying logistics around.
You can’t do it and I don’t know what SSNIT is doing about it.
We’re talking to them.
So when I see other promoters taking it out of that place to a different place I am happy and what we do is to support them.
When we get places like this and then we stop using they I think they will go back to their senses.
