Vice President & the New Patriotic Party’s Flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to upgrade all national stadiums to meet top international standards if his government is re-elected in the December 7 elections.

He made this commitment during the launch of the party’s 2024 election manifesto at the Ghana Secondary Technical School in Takoradi on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

Dr Bawumia’s remarks follow widespread criticism of the current state of national stadiums, including the Accra Sports Stadium, Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Cape Coast Sports Stadium, and Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, especially regarding the poor condition of playing surfaces.

We will, ladies and gentlemen, also upgrade the surfaces of our football pitches to meet the highest international standards.

And so we will be seeing and upgrading of the stadium in Kumasi, Accra, Cape Coast, Tamale and Essipong Stadium to make sure that they meet the highest international standards.
