Media Attaché of Team Ghana at the 2024 Olympic Games, Benjamin Willie Graham, has stated that he isn’t too sure that Ghana sprinter Benjamin Azamati’s poor semifinal run in the Men’s 100 Metre semifinal heat was down to nervousness.

He said this in an interview on ChannelOne Sports Score Card after seeing Ghana’s sprinters, Azamati and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, miss out on progressing to the final of the event. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Azamati finished ninth in the semifinal heat after running a time of 10.17 seconds while Saminu finished seventh after running a time of 10.05 seconds. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Despite competing in his second Olympics, Azamati’s disappointing performance led many to believe that he was nervous but Graham refused to believe that notion.

“I’m not too sure that he had any nervous situation or he was feeling a little bit jittery because of the people he had met. He knew them already. He’s met them back in the States (USA), he’s run with them in different competitions so he was coming into this competition not really bothered or afraid of the squad that he’s met so if you tell me about his demeanor, I will tell you that he was pretty much confident.”

Azamati will join Joseph Paul Amoah, Ibrahim Fuseini and Isaac Botsio to compete for Ghana in the Men’s 100 Metre Relay race on August 8.
