AFC Sunderland Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman is happy that the EFL Championship side have been able to sign Black Stars midfielder Abdul Salis Samed.
The signing is a one year loan deal that sees the Ghanaian international move from French Ligue 1 side RC Lens to the English second tier.
Samed fell out of favour with Lens head coach Will Still and was relegated to the reserve team after struggling for consistent play and form in the 2023-2024 season. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Speaking after securing the loan deal for Samed in the final hour of the main transfer window, Speakman provided an insight to the club’s move for the Black Stars player who competed at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“We are delighted to welcome Sallis to Sunderland. He’s a defensive midfielder player, who is disciplined in and out of possession. He is a different profile within our midfield, and we believe he will relish the battles that come with playing in a league like the Sky Bet Championship.”

Sunderland have won three games in as many games to commence the Championship season and rank second in the standings ahead of its August 31 clash against Portsmouth.
