Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has made changes to the Black Stars starting lineup against Niger in a 2025 AFCON qualifier.

Ghana is taking on Niger in Morocco in the second group game for both nations after Ghana suffered a 1-0 loss to Angola in Kumasi and Niger lost 1-0 to Sudan in South Sudan in the first round of qualification games.

Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru and Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams have been named as starters replacing Elisha Owusu and Jordan Ayew respectively in the lineup that started against Angola.

Owusu and Ayew were late arrivals to the Black Stars camp for the Angola matchup and were surprise picks to start against Angola. Unsurprisingly, both players underperformed at the Baba Yara Stadium.

That aside, the Black Stars starting unit remains untouched for the important clash Ghana must win to kickstart its campaign to compete at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Black Stars duo Jerome Opoku and Joseph Paintsil didn’t travel with the team to Morocco and won’t feature in the game. Opoku suffered back problems from training on the heavily panned Baba Yara pitch. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
