Black Princesses head coach, Yussif Basigi, is adamant his team has put the disappointing loss in its 2024 FIFA Women’s Under 20 World Cup opening game behind it.
He said this in the lead up to Ghana’s game against Japan on Thursday, September 5 at 22:00 GMT after Ghana lost 2-1 to Austria in the competition that is taking place in Colombia.
Losing to Women’s Under 20 World Cup debutants Austria, marked the 10th straight loss for Ghana in the history of the competition. The Black Princesses are competing in the tournament for the seventh consecutive time.
“They have put the first game behind them. Even if we had won, we would have put the game behind us and look forward to playing a very good game. We have also mapped a ploy as to how to contain the Japanese. There is no fear at all, they believe in themselves and they are ready to deliver.”

Japan thrashed New Zealand 7-0 in its encounter. Ghana takes on New Zealand on September 8 at 23:00 GMT. Scroll down to watch video.
