Besides the mistake, he had a really good game- Otto Addo on Abdul Mumin

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has backed Ghana Black Stars defender Abdul Mumin after the latter’s mistake directly resulted in Ghana conceding a goal against Angola.

Ghana lost 1-0 to Angola in the opening game of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers for both countries with the game played out at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Angola forward Felicio Milson scored the all-important goal in added on time after pouncing on a failed clearance attempt by Mumin to sweep the ball into the net.

Speaking after the game, Addo voiced his displeasure about the quality of the Baba Yara Stadium pitch and voiced his support for the Rayo Vallecano player. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“We made some mistakes so it’s not only him. The grass was not that besides the mistake, he had a really good game. He played a lot of passes in between the lines and won a lot of duels. He is young and will surely develop.”

Ghana takes on Niger in its next Group F game on Monday, September 9 at 15:00 GMT in Morocco.
