Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has added his voice to calls for the Baba Yara Stadium pitch to be developed into one that meets international standards.
He said this in his post-game presser after Ghana lost 1-0 to Angola in Kumasi with the loss ending Ghana’s unbeaten 24 year old streak at the iconic stadium.
Angola head coach Pedro Goncalves blasted the poor state of the pitch despite his team’s win ahead of a crucial Group F game against Sudan with both nations heading into the September 9 game tied on three points. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Speaking after the game, Otto Addo was far from impressed with the Baba Yara Stadium’s pitch and called for the situation to be worked on.
“I don’t like to do this but the pitch to be honest, the guys did really well in the second half to control the game. We have to work on the pitch to get better because it is very difficult and also because mistakes can happen.”
Ghana takes on Niger on September 9 in Morocco.
