Ghana has dropped to 70th place in the latest FIFA World Rankings and 14th in Africa after a poor start to life in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
This comes on the back of Ghana dropping six places from the last rankings that were put together in July, 2024. Ghana still ranks outside the 10 spots in Africa.
The Black Stars lost 1-0 to Angola and drew 1-1 with Niger in Group F games as it attempts to qualify to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. Ghana ranks third in Group F standings behind Angola and Sudan.
Losing to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium marked the first time Ghana lost at the stadium in a competitive game in 24 years. Ghana takes on Sudan in back to back 2025 AFCON qualifiers in October.
Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Cote D’Ivoire and Tunisia occupy the top five spots in the African rankings with Morocco ranked 14th in the world.
The North African nation is the first African team to compete in the semifinals at the FIFA World Cup.
