Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has described games against newly promoted teams in the Ghana Premier League as “challenging”.
He said this ahead of Kotoko’s game against Young Apostles FC who are competing in Ghana’s top flight for the first time.
Kotoko take on Young Apostles at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, September 22 at 15:00 GMT with adopting the Len Clay as its temporal home base following its regular home venue, the Baba Yara Stadium, getting closed down for renovation.
After praising the quality of the Len Clay Stadium’s pitch, Dr. Ogum revealed that playing against league debutants like Young Apostles is always challenging. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“It’s always a challenge because you don’t have a lot of tactical information about them so it becomes a bit of a challenge. Apart from that too, I think, commonly, every team that comes to play Kotoko wants to make a mark so being a new team in the Ghana Premier League…I think they will triple their efforts to make sure that they put up a very good show.”
Kotoko won its first game of the 2024-2025 season via a 1-0 result over Karela United.
