Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Pius Enam Hadzide, has stated that he will facilitate constituents in the Asuogyaman Constituency’s travel to the United States of America (USA) for the 2026 FIFA World Cup should he get voted as Member of Parliament for the constituency.

Campaigning on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the parliamentary seat, Pius Hadzide made the bold but controversial call (given his checkered background in relation to mass travels to sports events) at a rally in the Asuogyaman Constituency.

At the time of writing, Hadzide is still dealing with National Youth Centres’ late commissioning with many around Ghana that have been left to rot.

In his time as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Pius Hadzide was embroiled in the Australia Visa Scandal in connection to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne where several individuals posed as sports journalists who traveled to Australia to cover the multi-sport competition.

However, he was cleared by President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo before assuming his position as CEO of the National Youth Authority.

His comments come in the wake of the Norway Scandal where alleged para-athletes moved to Norway from Ghana to compete in a marathon for able bodied persons.

Ghana Paralympics Committee President, Samson Deen, alleged that his signature was forged to secure the visas that enabled the supposed para-athletes to travel to Norway. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
