Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council Member, James Kwasi Appiah, is expected to step down from his role as head coach of Sudan’s Men’s National Football Team in the lead up to Ghana’s crucial 2025 AFCON qualification games against Sudan on October 10 and October 14.

This is according to Africa’s football governing body, CAF, as controversy continues to brew over the positions Appiah holds due to “conflict of interest” that goes against the laws of FIFA and CAF.

In a letter addressed to the former Black Stars player and head coach, Appiah has been directed to step down from one of his roles, more likely temporarily as a head coach for Sudan, until both games are completed.

Sudan ranks second in Group F with three points while Ghana ranks third with just a point after losing 1-0 to Angola and drawing 1-1 with Niger.

The Black Stars will take on Sudan on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium after CAF granted its approval for the stadium to host the tie in the wake of Ghana’s struggles presenting a venue suitable to host a Category 3 game. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
