Spintex Knights Basketball Club’s quest to win its second consecutive game in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) preliminary round has ended unsuccessfully after losing 81-99 to Abidjan Basketball Club.
The Group B West Division matchup had two winning teams from Day One of the tournament face off in Libya but a slow start from Ghana’s representative in the continental championship hurt its chances of winning the competitive tie.
Knights lost 19-34 in the first quarter and despite winning the third quarter 26-21, Spintex couldn’t wipe out its deficit to lose by 18 points.
After winning the Most Valuable Player Award in Spintex’s opening game win over Elan Coton of Benin, James Amotoe continued his brilliant campaign by registering a 22 point, 10 rebound double-double performance in the loss. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Guard Henry Kpogo added 12 points and six assists in 27:13 minutes for Knights; Spintex take on Mighty Barolle from Liberia on Saturday, October 12.
