News gathered by Citi Sports indicate that Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has requested for additional backroom staff in his technical report submitted to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council.
The GFA EXCO summoned Otto Addo to a meeting to review the Black Stars’ performance in the recently concluded 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Ghana failed to win a game in the qualifiers and missed out on qualifying to next year’s AFCON which is the first for Ghana in 20 years. Ghana failed to win a home game in the qualifiers.
Among the reported details that have emerged from Otto Addo’s technical report are the former Borussia Dortmund assistant admitting that injuries affected the team’s performance during the qualifiers and his belief that team performances that didn’t match home results for the Black Stars.
He also indicated in the report that he needs additional backroom staff moving forward with the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers coming up in March 2025.
Otto Addo’s backroom staff including assistant coach John Paintsil has come under intense pressure for their role in the Black Stars woeful performance.
