Former Black Stars assistant head coach George Boateng has left his role as Coventry City Football Club assistant manager.
His departure from Coventry City comes in the wake of Frank Lampard’s appointment as manager of the English Championship club.
Lampard has signed to coach the club on a two and a half year deal after sometime out of coaching where he worked as a TV pundit.
The football legend has coached Chelsea (twice) and Everton after almost leading Derby County to English Premier League qualification. He excelled as a player with Chelsea.
Boateng joined Coventry City this season as one of two deputies for manager Mark Robins following his run with Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFCON.
Coventry rank 17th in the Championship and are just two points above the relegation zone at the time of Boateng’s departure. Boateng played for Coventry City in his playing career.
Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante joined Coventry City this season from West Bromwich Albion and has three goals in 19 appearances.
