The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rendered an apology to Ghanaians over the Black Stars failure to qualify to the 2025 AFCON.
The Association through a press statement communicated its disappointment over Ghana’s failed campaign to qualify to compete at next year’s AFCON that is scheduled to be held in Morocco from December 23, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
“We understand the disappointment and frustration this failure has caused, and we share in the pain and sadness of our beloved fans” a portion of the statement read.
It will be the first time since 1988 that the North African nation hosts the continental championship and will have 24 nations compete for the title with Cote D’Ivoire as defending champions.
Ghana finished its qualification campaign bottom of Group F after failing to win a game in six qualification games. The poor results included failing to win any home game.

The Black Stars lost 1-0 to Angola in Kumasi, drew goalless with Sudan and lost 2-1 to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra.
In the wake of the campaign, the GFA Executive Council met on Wednesday, November 20 to discuss the failed campaign and decided to have Otto Addo continue as head coach of the Black Stars. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
